The Best Magic Experiences in Los Angeles
Not sure what fits your event? Take the 35-second quiz
Los Angeles is home to the most famous magic venue in the world, and a thriving scene of performances that most Angelenos don't even know exists.
I get asked this all the time: where can I see magic in LA? And honestly, the answer used to be simple. The Magic Castle. That was it. But goodness, things have changed. Los Angeles has quietly become the best city in the country for live magic, and most people who live here have no idea.
Let's start with the obvious one.
The Magic Castle® in Hollywood. If you know, you know. This Victorian mansion on Franklin Avenue has been the epicenter of professional magic since 1963. It's members-only, and you need an invitation from a member to get through the door. I became a member at the beginning of 2026 and honestly, even after just a few months, I get a little rush every time I walk in. Inside there are multiple showrooms running simultaneously every night: the Close-Up Gallery (tiny room, six feet from the performer, absolutely electric), the Parlour of Prestidigitation, and the Palace of Mystery for full stage shows. They rotate elite acts from around the world, so you genuinely never see the same show twice. One thing people always forget: the dress code is strict. Elegant formal wear. Jackets and ties for men, equivalent for women. No exceptions. I've already seen people turned away at the door. But that formality is part of what makes the whole evening feel so wonderful. If you ever get the chance to go, don't hesitate. Just go.

Being a member of the Castle, even as a newer one, has already shaped how I think about performing. The emphasis on craft over flash, respecting your audience, creating real moments instead of just doing tricks. That place gets into your DNA fast.
Magic Monday's. OK, this one is personal. I co-produce this show with Katie Cazorla and it's one of the things I'm most proud of. We ran Magic Monday's from June through November 2025 at the Kookaburra Lounge in Hollywood, Katie's incredible venue right at Ovation, and oh gosh, the nights we had there. We brought in comedians like Adam Ray, Tiffany Haddish, Craig Robinson, Dean Delray. And then the magicians. Some of the best in Southern California: Jackson Ridd, Nader Hanna, HUBB, Taylor Hughes, Kyle Marlett, Connor Mac, Michael Rayner, Franco Pascali, Day Mori, Jer Bear, Nelson Lee, Frankie Foti, Will Coile, Nick Paul, Blake Vogt, Alex Kazam, Miss Direction, Greg Van Holsbeck, Carlos Suarez, David Stryker. I hosted and performed throughout the run. Every show was different. That was the whole point.
The Kookaburra closed at the end of 2025 and we took a hiatus, but Magic Monday's is coming back at The Starlight Cabaret, a new venue from the same ownership in Studio City. The space is lovely. Better sightlines, better production, same energy. If you love the Castle but want something more casual, no dress code, no membership, just show up in jeans and see excellent magic up close, this is your spot. It's going to be wonderful when we're back.
Black Rabbit Rose in Hollywood. This is a Houston Brothers joint, the same people behind No Vacancy, Good Times at Davey Wayne's, Break Room 86.
Black Rabbit Rose in Hollywood. This is a Houston Brothers joint, the same people behind No Vacancy, Good Times at Davey Wayne's, Break Room 86. They know atmosphere better than almost anyone in this city and it shows. The cocktails are fantastic, the space feels like a modern speakeasy, and the magic is woven into the whole evening rather than being a separate "OK now watch the show" thing. They have rotating performers in an intimate theater space upstairs. Lovely date night. Lovely group outing. Just a cool place to be.

Magic at the Library Bar at The Hollywood Roosevelt. This one flies under the radar. Every Sunday evening, 6 to 8 PM, HUBB performs close-up magic in the Library Bar. HUBB is a veteran of both the Magic Castle and the Chicago Magic Lounge, and his sleight of hand is just... incredible. You sit there with a cocktail in one of the most beautiful hotel bars in Hollywood and watch impossible things happen three feet away. Tickets sell out. Book ahead.
Illusions Magic Lounge in Santa Monica. 150-seat theater with a rotating roster of magicians, comedians, and variety performers. Here's the thing I love about Illusions: you don't even need a ticket to experience magic there. The lounge area is open to walk-ins, and they have strolling magicians performing tableside while you have a drink. If you do grab a theater seat, every show feels personal. Great Westside option.

Marvyn's Magic Theater in La Quinta. OK technically this is out near Palm Springs, not LA. But I'm including it because the caliber of talent they bring in rivals anything in the city. The desert setting adds something unexpected to the whole experience. Worth the drive if you're serious about seeing great magic. Trust me on that.
Then there's the private magic scene, which most people don't even know exists. Some of the best magicians in LA perform exclusively at private events: mansion parties in Beverly Hills, corporate gatherings in the Hollywood Hills, intimate dinners in Malibu. None of it is advertised. It all runs on word of mouth and planner referrals. This is the world White Rabbit lives in. Creating one-of-a-kind experiences for hosts who want to give their guests something they've never seen before.
LA's magic scene is in a fantastic place right now. New venues keep popping up. The talent pool is deeper than it's ever been. And there's a growing audience of adults who get it, who understand that magic at its best is an art form, not a novelty act. Whether you're visiting the Castle for the first time, catching Magic Monday's in Studio City when we're back, or bringing White Rabbit to your next event, this city is where you fall in love with the impossible. I'm biased. But I'm also right.
